Tributes, heartbreaks, celebrations: End of Week 3 Play-Ins, Group Stage teams now complete

The last week of play-ins was a blend of tributes and celebrations as Valorant, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Call of Duty: Mobile teams competing for the group stage are now complete. 

Last Saturday, October 15’s, match was all or nothing for the Valorant losers bracket teams. 

Holy Angel University’s “Valiant Esports” are the first to enter the second group of teams moving to group stage after winning against New Era University’s “PDG Adamant” to a 13-9 score. 

Far Eastern University’s “Tams FX” were fortunate to make it against Adamsons University’s “ADU GAME” (13-10) but eventually gave their salutes to the rest of the Alliance Games teams after losing to the University of the Philippines-Diliman’s “Oblation Esports Makaptan” who finished strong with a 13-10 score.

Lastly, Pampanga State Agricultural University’s “Soaring Eagles Esports” gave it their all as fast round-enders with nine consecutive wins against the University of the Philippines - Los Banos’ “Makiling Esports” (13-3). Their group stage spot is secured after taking down Our lady of Fatima University Valenzuela’s “Our lady of Fatima University Valenzuela” (13-9).

Automatically entering the roster of teams for group stage without playing for play-ins are the victors of ALLG Split 1: 

  • Ateneo de Manila University’s “LG Esports”
  • Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute Technology’s “MTE Excalibur”
  • De La Salle University’s “Viridis Arcus”
  • Malayan Colleges Laguna’s “Warlocks”

The rest of the Valorant teams who are competing for group stage are as follows:

  • Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila’s “Atomos Haribons”
  • Technological University of the Philippines - Taguig’s “LPE Sparrows” 
  • Bulacan State University’s “Bulsu Golden Gears’” 
  • Xavier University’s “XCEED Crusaders”
  • University of Santo Tomas’ “Teletigers”
  • Ateneo De Naga University’s “Golden Galiants”
  • NU Dasmariñas’ “Sigma Esports”
  • Southwestern University’s “ Cobras Esports”
  • College of Saint Benilde’s “Romançon Gaming”
  • Technological University of the Philippines - Manila’s “Gearhawk Esports”
  • Our Lady of Fatima University’s “OLFU Esports Emperor”
  • University of the Philippines’ “Oblation Esports Makaptan”

Day two, October 16, began with best-of-three MLBB hard-line matches with three teams safe and on board for the group stage. 

FEU Institute of Technology’s “TEC Solstice” broke an even 1-1 score after two games against Bulacan State University’s “BuLsu Golden Gears” as they ended with an intact 12-4 win in the third match.

Angeles University Foundation’s “GD Voda” brought two consecutive tidal wins against Gardner College Cainta’s “GC Gaming Kings.”

Lastly, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan’s “XCEED CWUSADEWS” were unmatched after dominating two consecutive matches against Pasig Catholic College’s “PCC - STEM Council Esports.”

Last Split’s MLBB  victors who are given a free spot for the group stage are none other than:

  • University of Santo Tomas’ “TGR Chaos”
  • Ateneo de Manila University’s “LG Helios”
  • University of Batangas’ “Brahmans”
  • University of San Jose-Recoletos’ “Jaguars Esports”

The rest of the  MLBB teams who are competing for group stage are as follows:

  • National University - Manila’s “Wizards Circle Esports Club” 
  • Technological Institute of the Philippines - Quezon City’s  “Zephyrus” 
  • De La Salle University’s “Viridis Arcus”
  • Xavier University’s “XCEED Cwusadews”
  • Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ “Pylon Fewa” 
  • Philippine Christian University’s “OVERSCHOOLED” 
  • Gardner College Cainta’s “ GC Gaming Kings”
  • Pampanga State Agricultural University’s “PSAU Emperor Eagles”
  • Systems Plus College Foundation’s “Panthera Esports Draco” 
  • Holy Angel University’s “Valiant Guardians” 
  • Tarlac State University’s “VAINGLORIOUS”
  • Technological University of the Philippines - Manila’s “Gearhawks”

In closing, COD:M teams are also locked-in and ready to face the next stage with 16 teams entering the group stage after.

The University of Santo Tomas’ “Teletigers” who dominated three consecutive rounds against New Era University’s “Project Paradigm.”

Systems Plus College Foundation’s “Panthera Esports Hercules” is second on the list of qualifiers after a growling 3-1 against Jose Rizal University’s “Coup De Grace.”

The last match of the play-ins period ended with a banger game as Father Saturnino Urios University’s “Leviticus” and De La Salle - Saint Benilde’s “LSB Sharks SIGMA” put up a show with a match that ended with 3-2 with Leviticus as the final winner. 

Added to the final list of CODM teams for group stage are ALLG Split 1’s victors: 

  • De La Salle University’s “Viridis Arcus”
  • FEU Institute of Technology’s “FIT Dasig”
  • Ateneo de Manila University’s “LG Altair”
  • Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ “Pylon Cratus”

The rest of the CODM teams who are competing for group stage are as follows:

  • Holy Angel University’s “Valiant Esports” 
  • Our Lady of Fatima’s “OLFU Esports Owl” 
  • Mapua University - Intramuros’ “MGS Ares”
  • University of San Agustin’s “SAGE Ultimate” 
  • National University Fairview's “Enflame” 
  • University of Santo Tomas’ “Teletigers”
  • Systems Plus College Foundation’s “Panthera Esports Hercules”
  • Father Saturnino Urios University’s “Leviticus”
  • Malayan Colleges of Laguna’s “Malayan Warlocks”

The success of the play-ins period was also contributed by AcadArena’s roster of student casters beginning with Abe, Furts, Drei, Rura, Skippo, ThreeSixteen, and Pollywog who casted for Valorant. Next are Jiyo, Qwerty, Venzin, Shayne, Wowzie, and special addition caster, Bipoler for MLBB. Lastly, Miles, Aaron, Cali, MissAir, and Changgu for COD:M.

The group stage for the Alliance Games will commence on October 29, 2022 which will be broadcasted on AcadArena’s social media platforms – Facebook, Twitch, and Youtube.
